Glos Gminy Zydowskiej

GLOS GMINY ZYDOWSKIEJ
Warszawa Marriage Announcements
1937 - 1939

Jewish Records Indexing - Poland and the Warszawa Research Group introduce the Life-Cycle series of data in the JRI-Poland database. In lieu of the availability of 20th century Warszawa vital records, the Warszawa Research Group has indexed the 1937-1939 Marriage announcements from the Polish language periodical:

Glos Gminy Zydowskiej   (The Voice of the Jewish Community)

This newspaper was published in Warszawa on a monthly/BI-monthly basis from August 1937 to June 1939. The indexing team has recorded all of the available marriage information from the periodical. There is no additional meaningful information about the particular marriage in the newspaper. The Glos Gminy Zydowskiej is available on microfilm at the New York Public Library (call no: ZAN-*P264).

The University of Warsaw has now digitized the entire collection from the Glos Gminy Zydowskiej Newspaper.  To view the documents you will need the DjVu browser plug which can be downloaded at LizardTech.  Below are links for the editions.

Surviving records less than 100 years old are held in the Civil Records Offices (Urzad Stanu Cywilnego) of each town.

For information on the 20th century records available for your town, visit the Routes to Roots Foundation website, CLICK ON THE 'SEARCH DATABASE' button (on the right side) and enter the town name. Look for the town name in the Repository/City column of the search results. There are typically links to lists of available births, marriage and death records for the town.

Note, however, the Routes to Roots Foundation database may indicate turn of the century records that have already been transferred to the appropriate branch of the Polish State Archives where they can be indexed for the JRI-Poland database.
